No matter who pours your concrete or what specific mixture they use in the concrete, it can sink. Concrete sinking is a normal part of life that happens when the material underneath the concrete changes shape for any reason. The material can change shape due to tree limbs growing, soil moving, and problems with proper liquid drainage.
Before mudjacking, concrete laying professionals would have to dig up any sinking concrete slabs, set the area, and then pour new concrete over the area. This process took a lot of time and money to do and provided the same results that modern mudjacking provides. Today’s process is much quicker, easier, and cheaper.
The process we use today is much easier because we no longer have to completely redo the process. Today, we are able to fill in the gaps underneath concrete slabs by drilling a hole down into the slab of concrete and filling the gaps with one of two materials: a polyurethane foam injection, or a mixture of sand, cement, and water.
Mudjacking was revolutionary and great to use when re-pouring concrete was not a great answer for sunken concrete. Polyurethane foam injections are relatively newer and experts use them in much the same way as mudjacking with the concrete and sand mixture. Each process will depend entirely on what your need for your home.
